I was blown away when I saw this one. We’ve gotta get science-y for just a second. There’s this molecule in your body called laminin, it’s a protein so small you can’t see it without a microscope, but its role is huge. Laminin is kinda like the “glue of the body” because it literally holds all your cells together. Without laminin, your body wouldn’t be able to function — it would fall apart.
Here’s the goosebumps moment: laminin is shaped like a cross. Yup — the very molecule that holds your body together resembles the symbol of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice. That’s just … whoa! It’s like God built a physical reminder into our bodies, pointing us to the cross that holds not only our bodies but also our lives together.
The Cross in Creation
God knew from the beginning that we’d need the cross. He knew we’d sin and fall short, and that His Son would have to die for us. He designed laminin, the “glue” of our bodies, in the shape of a cross to remind us of this truth: without Jesus and His sacrifice, our lives fall apart.
This connection between laminin and Jesus is beautifully reflected in Colossians 1:17: “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Just like laminin holds our bodies together, Jesus holds every part of our lives together. Without Him, we’re lost, broken, and disconnected. With Him, we’re whole, secure, and deeply loved.
A Physical and Spiritual Glue
Think about this for a moment: what areas of your life feel like they’re falling apart? Maybe it’s relationships, your work, or your mental and emotional well-being. Just like laminin holds our bodies together, Jesus wants to hold those broken pieces of your life together too. His sacrifice on the cross isn’t just a symbol — it’s the foundation of your life.
When we allow Jesus into our lives, He doesn’t just patch things up. He transforms us, strengthens us, and reminds us of His unwavering presence. Laminin is a beautiful picture of what Jesus does: He holds us together, even when life feels like it’s unraveling.
Whenever you feel like life is falling apart, remember the cross. It’s not just a symbol of hope — it’s the glue that holds your life together. Jesus has you in His hands, and in Him, all things hold together.
Daily Prayer
Dear God, thank You for the amazing ways You remind us of Your love, even down to the tiniest molecule in our bodies. Thank You for Jesus and for the cross that holds our lives together. Help me to trust You to hold the broken areas of my life, and remind me daily that with You, I am made whole. Amen.
